I have just invested in a new fluorescent tube!! Zowieee, I hear you say. This, however, is not any old fluorescent tube, it is an Interpet "Blue Moon" tube (if you are British you will have to imagine the Carlos Santana soundtrack in the background for yourself ).

This light is now fitted as the central light in my Arcadia luminaire on tank 2 and I must say that I am impressed with both the ambience that it creates, and also the effect that it would appear to have on the activity of the tank's occupants.

Here is a photo of tanks 1 & 2 just to show the difference. Tank 1 has the ordinary Arcadia Freshwater tube, and tank 2 (on the left) has the Blue moon tube (the other 2 tubes were turned off in the photo).

My current thinking is to have the 2 freshwater lights on during the day, and to have the blue moon on during the evening. This means that I might get a bit more activity from my Plec, which otherwise spends a lot of his time in 'his' log.

Does anyone else have experience of this lighting and, if so, do you have any opinions that you would like to share?
